NYC Energy Opportunity Could be Gateway to Emerging Market

This MAJOR energy monitoring program is reminiscent of work that was performed though much of the manufacturing sector in the late 70's and early 80's. Although metering and monitoring does not directly reduce energy usage it does define accountability - tieing this program in with BMS will lead to energy savings and although many such systems are proprietrary - the grunt work of reviewing as-builts and surveying facilities will be extensive. This RFP has significant MWBE participation requirements (goals) and could not only provide lucrative hours at low risk - but can also act as a gateway for additional work in commercial, institutional, tech and industrial facilties. The complete RFP is available through NYCEDC. The RFP summary is below, obtain the RFP by going to:

Prep a good qualification document with short resumes and get in front of the key players so your firm can get an early leg up on what will be a good sized market in the near future.

ADVANCED METERING AND BUILDING MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS RFP

SUBMISSION DEADLINE: October 27, 2008

New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC) is seeking a consultant or consultant team to assist the City with implementation of its long-term plan to reduce energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions of municipal buildings and operations. Specifically, the City seeks to increase its capabilities to meter, monitor, analyze and remotely control energy use in its facilities via an Energy Information System and/or an Energy Management and Control System. It is envisioned that the Systems could range from quite minimal to fairly complex and that no one System will be appropriate for all facilities given the diversity of the City’s inventory.
NYCEDC plans to select a consultant on the basis of factors stated in the RFP which include, but are not limited to: the quality of the proposal, experience of key staff identified in the proposal, experience and quality of any subcontractors proposed, demonstrated successful experience in performing services similar to those encompassed in the RFP, and the proposed fee.
